Can-can – Nadeesha Godamunne

Can-can, ink on paper, 2009.

Nadeesha Godamunne is a recent fashion design postgraduate, having completed her Masters in Fashion Illustration in 2010 with First Class Honours.  Godamunne breaks away from certain aesthetic boundaries associated with fashion illustration in an effort to reframe perceptions of the ideal fashion image. In this way, her works challenge certain visual codes used to talk about fashion.  To date, Godamunne has been featured in a number of reputable publications such as ‘The Australian Creative’, Martin Dawber’s ‘The Big Book of Fashion Illustration’ and Sandra Burke’s new ‘Fashion Designer’ series.
